जो कुछ भी कहना था मुझे, अपनी कविताओं में कह दिया है मैंने। अब आगे मेरी कविताएँ संवाद करती रहेंगी आपसे।
आज के इस भागदौड़ वाले जटिल जीवन की कठिन परिस्थितियों में, भीड़ से अलग, एकांत में रहने वाला एक साधारण-सा आदमी हूँ मैं। संसार-प्रपंच से संबंधित मेरी स्वीकृति और शायद
अस्वीकृति का भी लक्षण — मेरा मौन ही मेरी कविताओं में शब्दायमान हुआ है।
कविता लिखना मैंने 1969 में आरंभ किया। इस संग्रह की पहली कविता 'ताश के महल' मेरी पहली रचना है। उसके बाद लंबे समय तक मैंने कविता नहीं लिखी; फिर 1981 में 'खंडहर'
की रचना की, और उसके बाद थोड़े-थोड़े अंतराल पर लिखता रहा — समय-समय पर आयोजित काव्य-गोष्ठियों एवं छोटे-बड़े सम्मेलनों में अपनी कविताएँ सुनाता भी रहा। बाद के बरसों
में कुछ साहित्यिक पत्रिकाओं एवं सांझा काव्य-संकलनों में इन कविताओं का छिटपुट प्रकाशन भी होता रहा, और सुधी पाठकों द्वारा सराही भी गईं। कुछेक सम्मान-पत्र भी मिले।
सेंट कोलंबस कॉलेज, हज़ारीबाग़ से स्नातक (कला) करने के बाद बोकारो स्टील प्लांट (सेल) में सहायक के तौर पर जनवरी 2008 तक कार्यरत रहे। गृहस्थी और नौकरी के बीच लेखन के
लिए समय कम ही मिल पाता, फिर भी रुक-रुक कर लिखते रहे।
कई बरसों से यह इच्छा थी कि घर में इधर-उधर बिखरी ये कविताएँ एक संग्रह का आकार पा सकें। अंततः यह लंबित इच्छा पूरी हुई — इस काव्य-पुस्तक का नाम दिया मैंने 'हाशिये
पर से', जो इसी पुस्तक की एक कविता का शीर्षक है। रंग-बिरंगे काव्य-सुमनों से निर्मित इस छोटे-से पुष्पगुच्छ को प्रेमपूर्वक सुधी पाठकों के हाथों में सौंपते हुए जो खुशी हो रही
है, उसे मैं शब्दों में व्यक्त नहीं कर सकता।

Randhir Chandra Goswami is a Hindi poet of quiet, independent mind — an ordinary man, as he describes himself, living a little apart from
the rush of the world. What he leaves unsaid about himself, his silence, finds its voice in his verse.
Born on 5 January 1949 in the village of Khudibeda (Bokaro, Jharkhand), he wrote his first poem — 'Taash Ke Mahal' — in 1969, at the age
of twenty. After graduating in Arts from St. Columbus College, Hazaribagh, he worked as an assistant at the Bokaro Steel Plant (SAIL)
until January 2008. The demands of a joint family and his job left little time for writing, yet he kept at it, at irregular intervals,
across the decades. Some of his poems appeared in literary magazines and shared anthologies, and were warmly received.
His long-held wish — to gather these scattered poems into a single collection — was fulfilled in 2019 with 'Haashiye Par Se'. He writes,
in his own words, to express rather than to impress, hoping the reader will simply connect with the poems.
